Before the introduction of mechanized means of spinning in the early 19th century, Indian cottons and silks were hand spun and hand woven, a highly popular fabric, called the khadi. Fabrics that use mill- spun yarn but which are hand-woven are known as handloom. Today cotton is an integral part of textiles in India. Nearly four million handlooms are engaged in weaving fabrics of nearly 23 different varieties of cotton. The discovery of several spindles, and a piece of cotton stuck to a silver vase, revealed that the spinning and weaving of cotton was known to the Harrappans, nearly five thousand years ago. References to weaving are found in the Vedic literature on the method of spinning, the various materials used. The foundations of the Indian textile trade with other countries began as early as the second century BC. When it comes to textile, skillful weaving techniques, vibrant colors and inventive designs combine to bring out the fascinating textile-based handicrafts of India. Popular hand-woven fabrics include silk, brocade and figured muslin, and popular hand-printed textile motifs include block and screen painting, kalamkari, batik, and bandhanis. MADAL BAL offers a wide range of home cotton textiles. A part of our wide range includes bath mats, floor mats, table runners, bed covers, curtains, pillow covers and towels in various sizes. Our main objective is to provide acceptable quality textile products at reasonable prices for the vast majority of our customers worldwide. The distinguishing features of the textiles we export are made of high-quality cotton in vibrant colours and trendy designs. We also offer a range of traditional hand-crafted home décor textiles like wall hangings, sofa covers, door hangings, cushion covers, handbags and bed covers interspersed with mirrors, saree material and jari. Most of these are sourced from Gujarat and Rajasthan, which have found a recognized place as the handicraft destinations of the world.

Man-made soap has been a major moneymaker for ages. Fortunes were made then – and still are still being made today. For all of Europe and the new western hemisphere the stage was set. There was no incentive for businesses to look for a natural soap – particularly something like soap nuts which abundantly grow on trees. Many powerful people had a great thing going. People were getting rich, and nobody wanted to change a thing – with the exception of making the businesses even more profitable via producing cheaper commercial soaps, detergents and cleaners. Our soaps are made by women self-help groups at the picturesque foothills of the Kumaon in the Himalayas in North India. The soaps are handcrafted and fragranced using natural essential oils. These soaps are made using glycerin as a result they are very emollient for the skin devoid of any harmful chemicals. You can treat your skin with our soaps. We also have a line of soap and scrub bars made using 100% natural ingredients, made at an organic farm high up in the Kumaon Himalayas. Our revolutionary laundry solution, which is a 100% natural and environment friendly alternative to regular laundry detergent, can also be used as a dishwasher and also doubles up for washing fruits and veggies. It grows on trees, yes, and it’s the best for washing children’s clothes. It’s good for you, for your family and above all for the environment we need to care.

The Himalayas is home to various herbs. We work with an NGO helping farmers find a sustainable living by growing kitchen herbs. Our kitchen herbs are grown at high altitudes in a soil friendly manner and are free from any pesticides or chemicals. We offer a range of kitchen herbs and seasonings along with Himalayan rock salt, a pure salt left back from the ancient sea. There are many definitions to the word ‘herb’, none altogether satisfactory. To the botanist it is a plant that dies down to ground level after the growing season; medicinally the word refers to a plant that can be used in the prevention and treatment of ailments and illness; in the kitchen it refers to those parts of the plant that are used in the preparation of food. Herbs are easy to grow, disease resistant, hardy, beautiful and are useful! Many herbs are perennials which means they grow for years (unlike annuals which grow for only one season never to return!). Herbs are also inexpensive to purchase and maintain. It would cost more to buy a sprig of fresh rosemary in your local supermarket than to buy one plant and grow it into a mighty shrub that will keep you and your friends stocked with fresh, pesticide free herbs for years to come. Then come our Himalayan herbal teas. Every sip of the Himalayan herbal teas we supply are infused with goodness. Theses natural teas work their magic on your senses, leaving you refreshed, rejuvenated and healthy.

    Ayurvedic Health Foods

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian medical science, the origin of which can be traced back to more than 5000 years. The source of Ayurveda are the vedas, the oldest available classics.   Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, derived from two roots: ayur, which means life, and veda, which mean knowledge. It is fair to say that Ayurveda is the science of life. It is not a just a school of medicine but rather a way of life.   At MADAL BAL, we espouse the philosophy of Ayurveda to the world. We export health foods prepared using the principles of Ayurveda.   In today’s fast-paced and stress-ridden world keeping good health with all junk food around has become a challenge for many. Ayurveda is a science to maintain good health using the gifts of nature.   Ayurvedic health foods are now accepted worldwide as a cure for many chronic ailments and just as a way of maintaining good health and wellness. The reason why people prefer ayurvedic health foods is these are prepared by using righteous means and suitable to the person.   One of our ayurvedic items, the amla candy, is a great source of Vitamin C as it boosts the immune system. Secondly, it is a great brain tonic.   In view of the life-style adopted my most of us today and considering the growing pollution in the gross and the subtle environment, we ought to be more careful about healthy foods.   Cooking today is mostly aimed to make the food more delicious; different experiments are tried out by the catering experts in this regard and ever-new ‘dishes’ and new recipes are derived. Deep fried food, varieties of spices and arbitrary combination of foods of non-compatible natural qualities are harmful to our health according to Ayurveda.
