LUMINOL CAS # 521-31-3 ( 3 aminophthallhydrazide) was synthesized in 1853 and its property was to produce a chemoluminescent reaction in basic solution in the presence of an oxidizing agent on contact with blood. The main components capable of catalyzing this reaction for emitting light are the transition metals haem and peroxidase. This application theory is utilized in forensic research for blood detection. Hence this product Luminol finds usage in forensic science.   Applications: Chemiluminescent material used for analytical purposes and chemistry demonstrations.

The biological property of copper compounds takes important role in as fungicides in agriculture and biocides in antifouling paints for ships and wood preservations. The copper ions inhibit the metabolism of the fungus when they react with sulfur containing enzymes in the plant.
